As part of agreement 124 of 2013 signed between the Rural Land Planning, Land Adaptation and Agricultural Uses Unit -UPRA- and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Faculty of Agrarian Sciences, Bogotá headquarters, a methodological proposal was developed for the evaluation of lands with agricultural purposes nationwide. The methodology uses a 1:100,000 scale, and includes biophysical, social, economic and environmental criteria.

UPRA undertook the task of adapting the "Land Governance Assessment Framework" (LGAF) for Colombia by configuring an instrument that could be applied continuously, depending on the country's rural, economic and social planning. As a result, a set of indicators was obtained used as input for the methodological proposal and structuring of baseline indicators for monitoring and evaluating public policies related to social planning of rural property and the rural land market.

In 2017, UPRA began gathering some of its main results in a land market atlas, in order to provide the country with the first work of this kind. It provides information on land markets in order to learn about its operation, relationship with the territorial agricultural system and gives inputs for the orientation of intra- and extra-sectorial public policies, in different geographical areas.

This publication Technical Report on the Characterization of the Land Market and Determination of Rural Land Prices in the Department of Casanare, Scale 1:100,000 contributes to the country and to the project in several ways. First, it provides relevant information on the commercial prices of rural properties in the department and its municipalities. These prices reflect the biophysical characteristics of the land, its proximity to infrastructure and marketing centers, as well as access to natural resources and the environment. This information is essential to identify the possible causes of price variations and to understand territorial dynamics.

Estimation of the degree of informality in rural land tenure in Colombia in 2019, which enables the identification and delimitation of areas with possible informality at the parcel level. This serves as a technical input in the process of planning the social and productive organization of rural property in the country.

This document integrates and summarizes the results of formulating the Landscape Letter of the Floodable Savanna Cattle Farming in Paz de Ariporo. This was carried out within the framework of the Pilot Project "Agricultural Landscape Letter, in two municipalities of the Orinoquía", between October 2020 and December 2021, in partnership between the Municipal Administration of Paz de Ariporo, Casanare, the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (UPRA), and the Orinoco Biocarbon Project - Sustainable Low Carbon Landscapes.
