The IDE Orinoquia is a community of people and organizations that manages, exchanges, makes available and analyzes geographic and statistical information through technological tools and the consolidation of knowledge for the sustainable development of the Colombian Orinoquia.
The IDE Orinoquia is a community comprised of people and institutions interested in the sustainable development of the Colombian Orinoquia, who can access, exchange, and use geographic information and knowledge about agricultural and environmental variables that contribute to climate change programs in the region, thanks to the use of information technologies.
It is part of the National Unified Rural and Agricultural Information System (SNUIRA) as an information management strategy led by the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of UPRA, and seeks to strengthen information governance and interoperability, as well as facilitate its integration with other sectors.
The Orinoquia Biocarbon Project – Low Carbon Sustainable Landscapes aims to identify and develop alternatives that contribute to improving conditions for sustainable agricultural planning and production, to ensure a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The initiative is led by the national government with the support of the World Bank and is implemented in the departments of Arauca, Casanare, Meta, and Vichada.
