With UPRAs guidance, Huila strengthens its agricultural catalog

Con la asesoría de la UPRA, Huila fortalece su catálogo agropecuario

Bogotá D. C., (@UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). Authorities from the Department of Agriculture, along with UPRA professionals, toured ten municipalities in Huila to gather primary information on the department's eleven agricultural landscapes.

This process allows for the inclusion of significant topics in production and in the territory's landscapes. Field visits constitute a strategy to build and validate existing agricultural landscapes in Huila, which allows each actor from each territory to be involved and participate, taking into account their knowledge of the landscape and the most representative scenarios in its cultural, historical, generational, and productive value, among others. Aipe, Villavieja, Santa María, Algeciras, Rivera, Pitalito, San Agustín, Isnos, Suaza, and Tarqui were the municipalities included in this tour that captures the cultural and heritage landscape of the region.

Through these presentations, the aim is to raise awareness among different stakeholders in Huila regarding the participatory construction exercise of the Department's Agricultural Landscape Catalog and the partial results obtained as of April 2024. In each socialization session in the 10 municipalities, producers and attendees have contributed to the collection of information that forms the main input on the agricultural landscapes of the Huila region.

Due to its geographical position, Huila stands out for its great diversity of landscapes resulting from the influence of its relief conditions – ranging from tropical dry forest, around the Magdalena River valleys, to the paramo and perpetual snow zones – characteristics that confer a great wealth of agricultural landscapes.
