Bogotá D.C., (@UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). During a month and a half (February 5 - March 18, 2024), the Unit of Agricultural Rural Planning (UPRA) socialized the Agricultural Territorial Kit with the new departmental administrations. The Territorial Kit is a tool that includes a proposal of guidelines aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector policy in the Territorial Development Plans 2024-2027.

Dora Inés Rey Martínez, technical director of the Directorate of Property and Rural Land Market Planning, stated that: "Taking into account that the new territorial administrations began on January 1, 2024, UPRA worked in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Planning Department in the formulation of the Territorial Kit, which is available to all technical teams of territorial administrations."

Additionally, the technical director emphasized that the Agricultural Territorial Kit guarantees proper land management, according to the objectives outlined in the National Development Plan 2022-2026 “Colombia: A Global Power for Life.

The Agricultural Territorial Kit was sent to all departments.

It is important to highlight that, in addition to socializing each of the guidelines of the Agricultural Territorial Kit, UPRA is supporting the review of around 12 Territorial Development Plans (11 Plans already reviewed and sent to the departments), in order to improve this instrument for the benefit of the agricultural sector of the department or municipality.

Furthermore, once the departments finish constructing the Departmental Development Plans and these documents are published, UPRA will conduct an analysis and build a departmental agenda focused on agriculture, including each of the initiatives of the territories.

What elements does the Agricultural Territorial Kit have?

The Agricultural Territorial Kit offered to the departments and municipalities of the country a series of documents divided into three sections: 1) strategic guidelines for the agricultural sector; 2) sectoral strategic information by department; 3) assistance guides from the territorial kit.

Additionally, the guidelines of the Agricultural Territorial Kit will ensure proper land management according to the objectives of the National Development Plan 2022-2026 'Colombia: A Global Power for Life.'
