Café de Colombia: por la agricultura campesina, familiar y comunitaria
farmers in the municipality of Cajibío, Cauca, took center stage during the launch of the Agricultural Inputs Access Fund (FAIA).

Cajibío, Cauca (@UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). Colombian coffee is a product cultivated in more than 844,000 hectares of the country, offering a wide and exquisite diversity of flavors due to the various geographical, climatic, and processing conditions along the production chain—an unique experience that begins with cultivation and ends in our cups.

Thanks to the efforts of thousands of producers, Colombia is now globally recognized for the quality of its coffee, and maintaining this standard is a commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural sector entities, and the National Coffee Federation.

"Today, from Cajibío, Cauca, we present coffee growers with the Agricultural Inputs Access Fund (FAIA), which aims to finance up to 30% of the purchase of fertilizers for small producers, providing economic benefits for the development of projects associated with peasant, family, and community agriculture", expressed the Deputy Minister of Agricultural Affairs, Aura María Duarte Rojas.

The Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (UPRA) joined this initiative by introducing coffee growers to the institutional offer. "We are promoting the development of coffee growers in Cajibío, making available to communities the identification and updated mapping of areas suitable for the sustainable growth of coffee cultivation", said UPRA professionals Edison Chacón and Carlos Ruíz.

Claudia Cortés López, director of UPRA, stated, "The municipality of Cajibío stands out for its coffee culture and optimal conditions for productive coffee development, ranking as the fourth municipality with the most suitable areas nationwide, around 40,700 hectares. Likewise, the department of Cauca is the second with the highest aptitude for coffee cultivation, with 461,500 hectares".

FAIA is a national government program that aims to benefit small agricultural producers in areas susceptible to the impact, from moderate to severe, in the Sectoral Plan for Preparation, Anticipatory Action, and Response to the El Niño Phenomenon. It provides economic assistance for the purchase of soil fertilizers, bio-stimulants, organic matter, and bio-inputs at a lower price.
