In July, exports from the Colombian agricultural and agro-industrial sector grew by 13.1% in value and 7% in volume.

This positive trend is mainly explained by the increase in exports of key products such as coffee, which saw a rise of USD 62.8 million (27.7%); bananas, with an increase of USD 20.2 million (33.9%); and cocoa and its preparations, which grew by USD 14.4 million (110.4%).
 

Bogotá D. C., (@Minagricultura, @UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). Exports from the Colombian agricultural and agro-industrial sector showed significant growth in July 2024, reaching a value of USD 944 million. This result reflects a 13.1% increase compared to the same month in 2023. This positive trend is mainly due to the increase in exports of key products such as coffee, which saw a rise of USD 62.8 million (27.7%); bananas, with an increase of USD 20.2 million (33.9%); and cocoa and its preparations, which grew by USD 14.4 million (110.4%). 


 

From January to July 2024, the sector exported a total of USD 6.526 billion, an 8.6% increase compared to the same period the previous year, mainly due to the rise in banana exports, amounting to USD 281.2 million (59.1%); flowers, at USD 139.1 million (10.4%); and coffee, at USD 111.2 million (6.5%). In terms of annual variation (during the period August 2023-July 2024), in value, exports grew by 0.9% compared to the same period the previous year. 
 
Claudia Cortés, Director of the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (UPRA), highlighted the importance of these results: “The sustained growth in agricultural and agro-industrial exports not only reflects the quality and competitiveness of our products in international markets, but also the effectiveness of policies supporting and promoting sustainable production. The significant increase in exports of products such as coffee, bananas, and cocoa reaffirms the sector's commitment to diversifying and consolidating our export offerings, thus driving the country's economic development.” 
 

Increase in export volume 

In terms of volume, in July 2024, Colombia exported 409,858 tons of agricultural and agro-industrial products, representing a 7% increase compared to July 2023. This growth in export volume was driven by the increase in banana exports, by 28,493 tons (24.9%); coffee, by 9,347 tons (20.9%); and Tahiti lime, by 5,167 tons (88.7%). 
 
From January to July 2024, exports reached a volume of 3,375,275 tons, a 16.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year. This increase is mainly explained by the growth in banana exports (518,792 tons, 56% more), coffee (49,947 tons, 15.4% more), and Tahiti lime (21,758 tons, 63.2% more). 
 
During the last 12 months (August 2023-July 2024), in terms of volume, exports grew by 7.5% compared to the same period the previous year.​
