San Andrés de Tumaco, (@MinAgriculturaCol). During the fourth day of the Government with the Pacific, President Gustavo Petro, along with his cabinet of ministers, announced the 'Mission Tumaco' program in this municipality in Nariño. This initiative will be developed with the leadership of the ministries of Justice (coordinator of drug policy), Agriculture, Commerce, Environment, Health, and Defense. It will also involve the participation of the ministries of Equality, Science, Culture, and the Land Renewal Agency.

A total of 10 entities will invest $228.995 million during 2024 in four clusters or ecosystems to promote the development of productive economies and a sustainable transition to legality.

One of the clusters is the agroproductive one, which allocated $203.070 million for programs such as Cacao x Coca, Coco + Pacific, Pez Total, Pacicamarón, Pacificáñamo, legal uses of coca leaf, Zero Hunger, and Fishing Zasca.

Cacao x Coca
Agriculture Minister Jhenifer Mojica announced an investment of $58 billion for the transformation of illicit economies through the strengthening of cocoa cultivation. This is part of the national drug policy 'Planting life, we eradicate drug trafficking.'

This initiative, called Cacao x Coca, and led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development along with the Ministries of Justice and Equality, and the Rural Development Agency (ADR), will also seek to strengthen the processes of transformation and commercialization of special cocoa beans, one of the most important fruits in this municipality that provides employment and development opportunities to farmers and rural women.

This investment will benefit 1,009 people and 1,884 cocoa-producing associations throughout the Pacific.

Pacicamarón and Pez Total
From the total resources of the cluster, a fund of more than $109 billion was allocated to make Tumaco the main shrimp and fishing port on the Pacific coast and the rest of the country. This intersectoral alliance will be led by the Ministries of Agriculture and Equality, along with the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (UPRA) and the National Authority of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Aunap). This will launch the initiatives Pez Total and Pacicamarón, which will strengthen small producers in this sector.
"The country owes Tumaco the most delicious things, and the country has not understood. Where does the shrimp come from? Where does the internationally awarded cocoa come from? Where does the coconut come from? Where does the most important Pacific fishing come from?" emphasized the minister.

Coco + Pacific
The ministry led by Jhenifer Mojica will also support the recovery of traditional coconut with resources of more than $65 billion. This is the result of joint work with the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), Agrosavia, and the Rural Development Agency (ADR).
