Bogotá D.C., (@UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). The Unit of Agricultural Rural Planning (UPRA) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cundinamarca held a dialogue session with the purpose of establishing a working agenda for the next four years and detailing crucial topics for the agricultural sector in the department.
In this regard, Dora Inés Rey Martínez, Technical Director of Social Organization of Property and Rural Land Market at UPRA, stated: "We met with the Secretary of Agriculture of Cundinamarca and representatives from the Department of Planning of the Governor's Office, presenting various topics; one of them being the Agricultural Territorial Kit; information that UPRA has been preparing to support the governorates in formulating the Departmental Development Plan."
Another topic discussed between the two entities was that of Areas of Protection for Food Production (APPA), which has been under consideration since 2023 with the previous administration of the Government of Cundinamarca, as well as with some municipalities in the Sabana Centro.
"We had the opportunity to present a very important policy for the territory of this department, related to the declaration of Areas of Protection for food production in the Sabana de Bogotá, mainly in the Sabana Centro province. We agreed to continue with working meetings and to join efforts of both institutions to promote rural development in this department", concluded the technical director.
In the coming weeks, the work teams of UPRA and the Department of Agriculture of Cundinamarca will establish an agenda of topics to be addressed over the next four years.
