Agropecuarian exports from Colombia reach USD 962 million in February, a 12.5% increase.

This performance is primarily due to the growth in exports of banana, flowers, and avocado, with significant increases of 79.2%, 13.2%, and 81.5%, respectively.
Agropecuarian and agro-industrial product exports reached their highest volume for a February month since comparable figures have been available (1991).
Bogotá D.C., (@Minagricultura, @UPRAColombia, @claudialili76). The export figures for the agricultural and agro-industrial sector for February 2024 present an encouraging outlook for the Colombian economy. According to data provided by DANE and analyzed by the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (UPRA), sector exports reached USD 962 million in February, a 12.5% increase compared to the same month last year. This performance is primarily due to the growth in exports of banana, flowers, and avocado, which recorded significant increases of 79.2%, 13.2%, and 81.5%, respectively.
In the accumulated period from January to February 2024, the total exported value amounted to USD 1.765 billion, an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Once again, bananas, flowers, and avocados stand out as the main drivers of this growth. However, over the last twelve months (March 2023-February 2024), sector exports experienced a decrease of 9.2% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
"The export figures for the agricultural and agro-industrial sector for February 2024 reflect the resilience and competitiveness of our products in the international market. The increase in the value and volume of our exports, especially in products like bananas, flowers, and avocados, is a clear testament to the commitment and quality of work carried out by our producers. Despite the challenges we have faced in the last year, it is essential to continue strengthening our export strategies to ensure sustainable and diversified growth in the future", expressed Claudia Cortés, director of the UPRA.
Regarding the volume of exports, in February 2024, 485,671 tons of agricultural and agro-industrial products were exported, representing a 33.8% increase compared to the same month in 2023. This increase is primarily due to the rise in exports of banana, sugar, and fats or oils.
Between January and February 2024, the total volume exported was 941,109 tons, a 39.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The products that contributed most to this growth were banana, avocado, and coffee. However, over the last 12 months, export volumes decreased slightly: 1.0% less than the same period the previous year.
Despite global challenges, Colombia continues to establish itself as a significant player in the international trade of agro-industrial products. Product diversification and a focus on quality have been decisive factors for these positive results. From UPRA, we reiterate our commitment to continue working to strengthen our sector.
