The functioning of the table is governed by the guidelines established by
Law 2335 of October 3, 2023"By which provisions on official statistics in the country are issued", and specifically in Article 14. Coordination of the National Statistical System where the following instances of coordination of the National Statistical System (SEN) are established: the Technical Advisory Council of the National Statistical System CASEN, the Committee for Monitoring Strategic Statistics, the Data Administration Committee (CAD), and the Sectoral Statistical Committees, with their respective Sectoral Statistical Tables.
The sectoral statistical committees are the general transversal coordination instances of the SEN. These committees are responsible for identifying, integrating, and discussing statistical information needs and defining the action plans required for managing these needs.
The agricultural statistics table is chaired by the governing body of the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) coordinator and generator of norms and standards for the SEN, and the Rural Land Planning, Land Adaptation, and Agricultural Uses Unit (UPRA) which serves as the technical secretary of the table.
